{ Trend Alert }: Ombre

One way of setting an event trend is by looking at things around you for inspiration. Some people turn to flowers to set their tone, some turn to colors, some turn to moods such as romance, etc.  Themes for birthday celebrations can be inspired by television shows, cartoons, characters, and all other sorts of things that can provide for a wonderful and fun ambiance. However, there are certain things that the brave look to for event inspiration. Things such as the runway, fashion trends, avant garde designs, architecture, and interior design are all things that one can draw some incredible inspiration from. One of the latest trends in beauty is called ombre....

The word ombre is a French term for "shaded". It is basically an effect where the color gradually shifts from dark to light. This trend seems to have really erupted over the last year in the hair trends.
I find it incredibly inspirational that this trend that started as a new hair color has slowly made its way into other things..

Anyone get where Im going with this yet?....Yep, you got it..ombre has now spilled into event design. One of the "founding fathers" of mixing this trend in with events is the fabulous Gwen Stefani. In 2002, she married Gavin Rossdale in a white to pink ombre wedding dress. We havent really seen ombre since then until now.

I think its such a fascinating concept to incorporate this into event design. Some of you may think its too trendy and risky for your traditional wedding vision. If thats the case, try using it more on other types of events such as showers, birthdays, etc.

One of my favorite parts of this is the cake(no surprise there..)

Inspiration for flowers and decor....

I love the idea of an ombre rose petal aisle runner...its like it creates anticipation in a sense until you get to the final product(the bright shade aka where the bride walks to)

And of course...fashion..

My favorite take on ombre was Molly Sims's bridal party...It is literally swoon worthy..

Monique Lhuillier has taken this trend and turned into chic and beautiful gowns that would make any bridesmaid die over...

Did I mention ombre makes for the cutest photo ops?
